Depending upon the source of the image the way to change the folder icon may vary. So here we illustrate the method to create a custom icon.

If you like the look of another file icon, navigate. Say you want to use an icon from another folder. This is just as easy. 1) Select the folder you’re copying from and either click File Get Info from the menu bar or right-click the folder and select Get Info from the context menu. 2) Click the icon on the top left and click Edit Copy from the menu bar.

Steps

• Open the picture in Preview > choose Edit > Select All > again select Edit > Copy
• Go to the file or folder whose icon you want to replace. Select File > Get Info (alternatively you can right click on the file or folder and select ‘Get Info’)

• At the top of the Info window > click of the picture of the icon > choose Edit > Paste

Steps

1. Select the file or folder that has the source image > choose File > Get Info > Select the icon at the top of the Info Window > Choose Edit > Copy
2. Select the file or folder whose icon you wish to customize > choose File > Get Info > Select the icon at the top of the Info Window > Choose Edit > Paste
